The Ann Conroy Trust does not vet any specialist who offers to have his or her name added to one of our lists. All of these consultants work in the NHS and, to gain such positions, will have been subject to prior, rigorous professional examinations and subsequent competitive selection procedures, as well as then being subject to annual appraisals, as is required if they are to maintain their General Medical Council specialist registration and licence to practice.
Several of these specialists may also engage in private practice but we advise you to enquire of their NHS secretaries as to whether or not this is the case, if you are thinking of going down this route. Whether via the NHS or private practice, we would always advise that you seek out specialist help through your GP, who can provide the specialist with any relevant background medical information.
